How to Print at Actual Size (100%)

A correctly sized file can still come out too small if the print dialog silently scales it. Check the paper and scale settings before the first sheet.

Select the paper format

Load the paper size named by the file, such as A4, US Letter or 8 × 10 inches. The printer's selected format should match the loaded paper. Confirm portrait or landscape orientation.

Choose Actual Size or 100%

In the print dialog, look for Actual Size, 100%, or a scale value of 1.00. Turn off Fit to Page, Shrink Oversized Pages, borderless expansion and any setting that fills the whole sheet.

Browser and system print dialogs use different labels. If the option is hidden, open the printer's full settings and inspect the scaling section. Avoid changing image dimensions in multiple apps; double scaling can compound the error.

Print and measure a test

Print one sheet first. Use a ruler to measure a known paper edge or a marked calibration line. If a 10 inch line prints as 9.8 inches, the scale is 98%; correct the setting before printing the remaining set.

Check that the page edges are not clipped and that no unexpected borderless enlargement occurred. A printer's non-printable margins can differ from the digital page.

Review color and paper

Choose the paper finish and weight that suit the frame and printer. Disable automatic enhancement if it changes the artwork unpredictably, but remember that no single setting guarantees museum color accuracy.

Digital previews cannot confirm the physical print. Keep the first sheet as a reference and inspect it in the room where it will hang.

Match the loaded paper to the file, print at 100%, and verify one test sheet with a ruler before printing the rest.
